2019 July/August Colombia
Our second visit to this beautiful country, we arrived in Bogota on 20th July 2019 and was met by our guide for the duration of our visit ~ Johnnier Arango ~ The Andean Birder. We travelled the Western Slopes of the Eastern Andes and to the Cloud Forest of Chicaque Parque Natural of the South West of the Eastern Andes. We flew to Puerto Asis in the Putumayo Region and the Eastern Slope of the foothills of the Colombian Massiff. We visited the Reserva La Isla Escondida, with its muddy rocky steep 4.8km access which can only be covered on foot with our bags taken up by horse. Whilst there we experienced the Tree Canopy Hide, accessed by ladder or rope lift.
We took a trip on the Putumayo River and visited Finca la Escondite in the Mocoa Region, Vereda san Antonio and the "Bridge to Nowhere". Travelled over the Colombian Massiff on the Trampolin 80km road to the Western slopes of the Southern Andes. Cocha Valley and Village, Cocha Lake and the Indigenous Reserve of RN La Planada, finally ending up in the busy bustling lively town of Tumaco and Morro Beach on the Southern Pacific Ocean, where we went Humpback Whale watching.
It was a fabulous trip, fabulous people and fabulous birds. Colombia is a wonderful country.
