2013 April, Texas, USA
After our trip to NJ, we fell in love with the USA, and on consulting with Cathy & Clay we decided to visit Texas. We flew into Houston, hired a car and spent the first week following The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, visiting reserves and staying in Holiday Inns or Marriott Hotels, all the way down the Gulf of Mexico to Brownsville in the Rio Grande, we spent the second week visiting reserves up and down the Rio Grande with Cathy and Clay, then worked our way back through Victoria to Houston. We experienced some wild stormy weather, but also some lovely hot sunny weather, we met some wonderful friendly people, and a few cowboys and their horses. The birds were fantastic with good photographic opportunities. We loved it and can't wait to return.
